
In June 2011, Hotspot conducted an evaluation of Project Swift Count, a Nigerian domestic election observer program that performed a parallel vote tabulation for the three rounds of elections in April 2011. David Nassar traveled to Nigeria to interview political party and civil society leadership plus the staff and volunteers of Project Swift Count. In June and July, Nassar wrote an evaluation of the project. This followed on a trip that Nassar took to Nigeria In July 2010, when Hotspot traveled to Abuja, Nigera to provide expert consultation to a conference entitled E-Nigeria: ICT and Civic Engagement in Nigeria. Hotspot provided input on online communications strategies that could be helpful in the run-up to the 2011 elections in Nigeria. The conference was co-hosted by the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, Harvards’ Berkman Center for Internet and Society, and Georgia Tech.
